What We're Really About

You already have what you need.
So why are you still spending?

The real cost of a purchase isn't the price tag. It's what you gave up to get it — your time, your savings, your options. We exist to make that exchange visible before you commit.

The Psychology of Exchange

Every purchase is a trade. Most people only see one side.

When you hand over money, you're not just buying a thing. You're trading hours of your life. If you earn $20/hour after taxes, that $60 takeout order cost you 3 hours of work. Not 60 dollars — three hours you'll never get back.

But your brain doesn't frame it that way. Your brain sees the food, smells the food, wants the food. The exchange — the real cost — stays invisible. That's not a character flaw. That's how every advertisement, every storefront, every "limited time offer" is designed to work.

The Exchange You Don't See
What You See

Already Have
$3
groceries in fridge
Real Extra Cost
$9
traded for convenience
$9 difference × 3x/week × 52 weeks = $1,404/year exchanged for the feeling of "new."
The 100x Problem

You're not overspending by a little. You're overspending by multiples.

The gap between what something costs to make and what you pay for it isn't a rounding error. A $5 coffee uses about $0.35 worth of beans. A $2 bottle of water costs $0.02 to produce. None of these are traps by themselves — the trap is not knowing the ratio.

What We Stand For

Four principles that guide every decision we make.

🤝
People Over Profit
Your good decision matters more than our revenue. The 48-Hour Pause exists because of this — we'd rather you wait and decide right than click and regret.
🔍
Transparency Over Marketing
Every affiliate is disclosed. Every rate is cited with its source. Every limitation is acknowledged. If we can't verify it, we remove it.
💪
Empowerment Over Judgment
No shame for past decisions. "Most people miss this. You're catching it now." We meet you where you are, not where we think you should be.
✊
Authenticity Over Perfection
We ship real tools and fix in public. If something is broken, we say so. Progress over polish.
How We Make Money

You deserve to know. We don't hide behind "free."

🤝

Affiliate Partnerships

When a tool recommends a high-yield savings account and you open one, we earn a referral fee. Disclosed at every recommendation.

🚫

We Never Sell Your Data

Our tools run in your browser. Your financial numbers never touch our servers. We literally can't sell what we don't have.

✅

Aligned Incentives

We only earn when you make a decision that genuinely helps you. If you don't act, we don't get paid. That's by design.

Privacy Policy

Your Data, Your Control.

We built Spot The Dot so your financial numbers never leave your browser. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we don't, and why.

Last Updated: March 15, 2026

The Plain-English Version

Our tools run entirely in your browser. We never see your loan amounts, purchase prices, income, or any financial numbers you enter. We use Google Analytics to count visitors and improve the site. We don't sell data. We don't run ads. We earn through affiliate links — and we disclose every one.

Section 1
Who We Are

Spot The Dot, LLC is a Georgia limited liability company operating the financial transparency platform at spotthedot.app.

Mailing address: 302 Veterans Memorial Hwy SW, Ste 100 PMB 1023, Mableton, GA 30126
Registered Agent: TRUE Space (filed Feb 19, 2026 with Georgia SOS)
Contact: [email protected]

Section 2
What We Collect (and What We Don't)
  • Financial Numbers — Never Collected. Loan amounts, income, prices, rates — all processed in your browser only. They never reach our servers.
  • Personal Identity — Never Collected. No name, SSN, date of birth, or address required. Ever.
  • Analytics Data — Collected. Page views, device type, referral source via Google Analytics 4. No personally identifiable information.
  • Email Address — Voluntary Only. Only if you opt into our mailing list. Unsubscribe anytime.
Section 3
How Our Tools Process Your Data

Every financial calculation runs entirely in your web browser using client-side JavaScript. Your numbers are never transmitted to our servers, stored in any database, or accessible to us in any form. When you close the browser tab, your data disappears completely.

We cannot retrieve, reconstruct, or access any financial information you enter into our tools. This is by design — not an afterthought.

Section 4
Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site. GA4 collects: pages visited and time spent, device type, browser, and operating system, approximate geographic region (country/state level), and referral source (how you found us). GA4 does not collect your financial inputs. GA4 retains anonymized analytics data for 14 months by default. You may opt out using Google's Analytics Opt-out tool.

Section 5
Cookies

We use only essential and analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. GA4 sets a first-party analytics cookie (_ga) that expires after 2 years. No financial data is stored in any cookie.

Section 6
Affiliate Links

Some tools recommend financial products (high-yield savings accounts, housing platforms). If you click through and open an account, we earn a referral fee. This is our primary revenue source and is disclosed at the point of every recommendation. When you click an affiliate link, you leave spotthedot.app and enter the partner's site. Their privacy policy governs from that point. We do not share any of your data with affiliate partners.

Section 7
Email Communications

If you voluntarily subscribe to our mailing list, we collect your email address to send financial education content. We use SendGrid to manage delivery. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email. We never sell, rent, or share your email address.

Section 8
Data Security

Our site is served over HTTPS (enforced by the .app TLD). We use Netlify's global CDN with automatic SSL and built-in DDoS protection. Our static architecture means there is no database to breach — your financial data never exists on our servers in the first place.

Section 9
Children's Privacy

Spot The Dot is not directed at individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

Section 10
Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access the data we hold about you (primarily: your email address, if subscribed); delete your data by unsubscribing and requesting deletion via [email protected]; opt out of analytics tracking via Google's opt-out tool; and withdraw consent for email at any time.

Georgia residents: Georgia has considered comprehensive consumer data privacy legislation (most recently SB 111, 2025 session). That bill did not pass the House and no such law is currently enacted as of March 15, 2026. We will update this policy to reflect any new requirements as they take effect.

Section 11
Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach affecting personal information (email addresses of subscribers), Spot The Dot, LLC will:

  • Notify affected individuals in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay, consistent with O.C.G.A. § 10-1-912.
  • If a breach affects more than 10,000 Georgia residents, notify nationwide consumer reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion) as required under O.C.G.A. § 10-1-912(d). We may additionally cooperate with the Georgia Attorney General's office on a voluntary basis as part of our commitment to transparency.
  • Provide a clear description of the data affected and recommended protective measures.

Because our tools process financial data exclusively on the client side, a server-side breach cannot expose any financial information entered into our tools.

Section 12
Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Material changes will be announced via a notice on our homepage and/or by email to subscribers. The "Last Updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version.
